Aetius of Amida

The Diethelm Library has two 16th century editions of Aetius of Amida’s medical treatise, originally from the sixth century. In the text, he describes the use of contraceptive vaginal suppositories and states that after it is inserted, “if she wishes, [the woman] may have intercourse with a man. It is infallible because of its many trials.”
