Travel in the US

Having passed the examination, immigrants arrived back in the baggage hall, where they would encounter members of immigrant advocacy groups, railway company ticket agents, and relatives already living in America. Immigrant support groups could provide access to employment, housing, and an immediate social introduction to communities of ethnic brethren already living in the US. Travel companies hawked train fares to cities all over the US, to the less-populated western states, and beyond. In this room, many immigrants reunited with relatives, who eagerly waited to take them to their new homes.
